The standards offered in this course may be altered at the discretion of the Head of Department.
Students adapt a commercial pattern and construct a garment which is fit for purpose. In addition, they follow the design process to address a given brief to produce a garment and portfolio.
Students will complete one external Achievement Standard, either AS91063 freehand sketching or AS91053 a written report on design elements.
Students will complete either Achievement Standard 91046 or Achievement Standard 91047.
The total number of credits which can be gained in this course is 19 credits.
Students are required to provide their own fabric and patterns for the two practical projects throughout the year.
Level 2 Fabric Technology, Level 2 Fashion and Design
Recommended Prior LearningOpen Entry however it is an advantage if students have studied Fabric Technology in Year 10.
If students take Level 1 Design and Visual Communication (Graphics) they will complete AS91053 instead of AS91063.
If students take Level 1 Food Technology they will complete AS91047 instead of AS91046.
Students need to start this course at the beginning of the year.
*Students must choose either Fabric Technology or Hard Materials Technology. They cannot study both.*
