Course Description

The standards offered in this course may be altered at the discretion of the Head of Department.
This course aims to develop the students’ ability to communicate confidently in less familiar situations, by extending their language base to cope with topics beyond their immediate personal life. The topics revolve around modern teenage life such as media, popular culture, healthy living, family and relationships.
Course Overview
Term 1
Topics covered: media, new technologies, advertising. Grammar: present tense, modal verbs, reflexive verbs, future tense.
Term 2
Topics covered: French music, cinema and fashion. Grammar: conditional tense, adverbs, perfect tense.
Term 3
Topics covered: Issues that affect young people for example, stress, health and fitness, relationships. Grammar: negative, pronouns, present participle.
Term 4
Grammar revision and practice of skills for the external listening and reading exams.
Recommended Prior Learning
A minimum of 3 standards achieved in Level 1 French (at least 2 in the Entrance Examination, plus 1 Internal Assessment Standard OR at least 2 Internal Assessment Standards plus 1 in the Entrance Examination)
