Course Description

The standards offered in this course may be altered at the discretion of the Head of Department.
This course will allow students to develop their appreciation of both New Zealand and global Biology relating to the environment and natural history. Students will also be encouraged to make informed decisions on current socio-biological issues. The broad range of biological knowledge and scientific skills gained will support further study or training in all biological, biomedical, veterinary and health sciences.
Year 13 Biology students may take part in a field trip to enrich their learning and help with their externally assessed achievement standards. The approximate cost is $20.
Students wishing to take Scholarship Biology are advised to take this course.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students should have achieved 12 Level 2 Biology credits which should include Biology 2.5 and Biology 2.7 or 2.4 (based on Entrance Exam). In some circumstances entry may be granted at the discretion of the HOD.
