Level 3 Earth and Space Science
The standards offered in this course may be altered at the discretion of the Head of Department.
This course is aimed at those students who wish to continue in Science at Level Three within an Earth and Space Science field. These students would want a general Science background and Science knowledge without needing the in-depth knowledge of Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
There is a field trip in Term 1 for AS 3.3. There is no cost for this trip.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students should have achieved at least 12 credits from Level 2 Earth and Space Science or Geography, including at least 8 credits from an externally examined Achievement Standard (based on Entrance Exams and Internal Assessment results). In some circumstances entry may be granted at the discretion of the HOD.
Total Credits Available: 20 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 8 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 12 credits.
Approved subject for University Entrance
Number of credits that can be used for overall endorsement: 20
Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
