Year 10 Food Technology

Course Description

This course explores of the importance of food for well-being through a range of practical and knowledge based activities. This program prepares students for NCEA Level 1 at Year 11 by introducing some of the subject specific terminology and concepts.

Content covered includes personal hygiene and food safety, concept development, ingredient properties and practical skills.

Students’ practical activities reflect the work taught in theory lessons, with an emphasis on safe food preparation, skills, and presentation. Students must have a genuine interest in food preparation and new product development. 

A curriculum cost is charged to cover the cost of food used in practical lessons. 

This course is not suitable for students with severe food allergies.
