The Year 11 Mathematics course covers Level 6 of Mathematics and Statistics in the New Zealand Curriculum document. As Year 11 students, you will be studying towards NCEA Level 1. The aim of this course is to provide a firm basis for any mathematical work undertaken in Year 12 and higher levels and also to encourage the development of mathematical processes. This is also your opportunity to gain the 10 credits needed for Level 1 Numeracy as a condition of achieving NCEA Level 1. 10 Level 1 credits in this subject (or equivalent) are also required to gain University Entrance in New Zealand.

This course is designed for most students to take.

Those students who successfully complete this course will have opportunities to take Level 2 mathematics courses, 12MATC or 12MATS or 12STPR.

This course is a prerequisite for Year 12 Mathematics and Statistics NCEA Level 2.

The standards offered in this course may be altered at the discretion of the Head of Department.
