Teacher in Charge: Mr G. Atkinson
The Year 11 Mathematics course covers Level 6 of Mathematics and Statistics in the New Zealand Curriculum document, and some Level 7 content. As Year 11 students, you will be studying towards NCEA Level 1. The aim of this course is to provide a firm basis for any mathematical work undertaken in Year 12 and higher levels and also to encourage the development of mathematical processes. This is also your opportunity to gain the 10 credits needed for Level 1 Numeracy as a condition of achieving NCEA Level 1. 10 Level 1 credits in this subject (or equivalent) are also required to gain University Entrance in New Zealand.
This is an extension course which covers four of five Achievement Standards listed in 11MATS (NCEA Level 1) and two Level 2 standards, with a focus on Merit and Excellence.
This course is a pre-requisite of 12MATC
The standards offered in this course may be altered at the discretion of the Head of Department.
